In this workshop we will cover:
"From coping and pain management to furthering progress in the body, the partner's bond is a container within which labor can flourish."
Workshop Details:
To support birth, we first need to understand birth. While not a comprehensive childbirth education class, we will break down the mechanics of what is happening in the birth process in laymen's terms and identify tangible strategies for addressing supporting the process in real time.
Hour 1 : Building your Connection (birth partners + birthing person)
In this first hour of this workshop, birthing parents and partners will learn about how the partnership dynamic can support labor progress. Through activities and break out discussions, we will help you both identify specific areas where partner support could be of particular value for your own partnership dynamic. This includes topics like breathing, comfort measures, birth preferences and communication. Come prepared to be honest and candid with each other about how each of you expects the other to show up for the experience of birth.
Hour 2: Partner Support (birth partners only)
In the second hour of class, we will meet with partners only and talk about ways to be preparing mentally and emotionally for the birth experience. We will talk creating the labor den and supporting the labor mindset, even before contractions begin. We will talk about being present and connected, and how this can be a tool for tracking the ebbs and flows of labor progress. And we will talk about the importance of self care in the birth space as preparation for the early days of parenthood.
This is a strategies-focused workshop. You will leave with a list of actionable tasks and a deeper understanding of what your unique approach to labor support looks like based on your values and what you know of your loved ones' preferences.
